Road to Better Homes – Community-Centric Design
HDB has launched a ‘Roadmap to Better Living in HDB Towns’ in 2011 to guide the development of well-designed, sustainable, and community-centric towns.
Developing community-centric towns means planning, designing and providing facilities and spaces with people in mind. We develop towns and also build communities. You can look forward to:
- More commercial, social and community facilities. A new generation of neighbourhood centres in towns like Punggol, Sembawang, and Hougang.
- A variety of community spaces. From Community Living Rooms in housing precincts to large sheltered community plazas in town centres, and neighbourhood centres.
- More rejuvenation programmes like the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme (NRP) and the Remaking Our Heartland (ROH) programmes for Toa Payoh, Woodlands and, Pasir Ris, to provide new facilities, and add vibrancy to older towns and estates.
- More community engagement to gather feedback and co-create plans like social linkways to enrich our upgrading plans.
Join us at the exhibition and find out more about these exciting plans.
